CALVARY CHAPEL

Calvary Chapel began in the 1960's as a small (non-denominational) church of 25 members, with Chuck Smith as pastor. Approaching the year 2000, Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa and about 30,000 members. The Word for Today published books and cassettes for Bible studies around the world, KWVE spread the Word of God to all of Southern California, and Calvary Chapel Bible College provided, and continues to provide, Bible education to thousands at its main campus in Florida, and in more than twenty branches around the world. Calvary Oaxaca was planted in 1983 by Pastor Antonio Hernandez under the name "La Puerta Abierta" (The Open Door).
